Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

CPAP is currently the gold standard treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). CPAP is a machine which provides positive air pressure via a tube attached to a mask interface. This will stent the upper airway open and prevent repeated collapse over the duration of the night. This will also stabilise your oxygen levels throughout the night and help to consolidate your sleep, leading to a more refreshing night’s sleep. The benefits of CPAP are:

  • Reduce daytime sleepiness

  • Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease such as heart attack and stroke

  • Reduces the risk of diabetes

  • Increased daytime alertness and concentration

  • Reduced risk of motor vehicle accidents

  • Eliminate snoring
